I've recently converted some of my disc games to digital and just added another with the latest $5 Flash Sale. Here's the list of games that I've gone from disc to digital with (in order or newest to oldest):
- The Order: 1886
- UFC 2
- Need for Speed
- Star Wars: Battlefront
- Injustice
- DriveClub
The deals on digital now are really good. No point in discs, unless getting $5 from gamestop is important.
They had a lot of good games during that $5 Flash Sale, including many I already owned. My son bought Tomb Raider, which he'll really enjoy.
The Madden Super Bowl Edition was just released for $20, so I'm considering trading in my disc version for $16 and making the switch. I don't care about the MUT packs included, I'm just interested in going disc-less.
It's very liberating, isn't it? :))
Make the switch today but was charged tax for the first time ever on PSN. Wonder if this started for 2017.
Maybe it's your state.
Just traded in Rory McIIroy PGA Golf for $13 and repurchased digitally for $10. For whatever reason, I wasn't charged tax this time...
I was just credited back the tax I was charged for my order of Madden 17 Super Bowl Edition. The email said I was "mistakenly" taxed.
Traded in my copy of NHL 16 for $5 at Amazon and upgraded to the digital version of NHL 17 for $15 (currently $20 - $5 trade-in). First time I've gone from disc to digital and upgraded to a newer version in the process.
Does the NHL series feature classic or international teams?
It has the international teams and players. Not sure about classic teams. I'll check tonight.
Just traded in FIFA 17 to get the digital version at a break-even price.
I love having lots of folders full of games. ^-^

No classic teams that I could see.
Played a few games tonight and really enjoyed it. The biggest reason I wanted to upgrade to 17 was due to the player controls. I read that the players had much more weight and momentum in this year's version and so far I agree. I never liked the floaty feeling in 15 and 16.
I'm debating whether I should cancel my Amazon pre-order for The Show 17 and just go digital with it. My total with Amazon including tax is $51.29, so it ends up being $8.70 more to go digital since sales tax on PSN doesn't kick in until April 1st for me. My biggest concern is that 17 turns out to be bad (Like MLB 15), which leaves me no option to trade it in, but I seriously doubt that after watching all the streams.
Yeah, that's the risk with digital. I've only been burned a couple of times, GTA5 being the biggest culprit.
I went digital with Batman: Arkham City last week during the "Batman Sale" and just cancelled my pre-order of the Show 17 with Amazon and went digital with that too.
Picked up Arkham Knight last week and AssCreed Syndicate this week in the sales. Both are complete versions with all DLC.
Both were less than $20, pretty solid. Also grabbed GoW3 remaster for $6 and GoW2HD for the PS3 for $2.50.
If you get the PS newsletter e-mail,check for a 20% code for the store. Used mine for AssCreed.
What was the sale price of Assassin's Creed Syndicate? I would have considered the digital version.
I need to sign up for the newsletter. Thanks for the tip.
Syndicate Gold is $20.79 right now.
I was looking at the standard version. Thanks again...Gonna pick this up tonight. I didn't realize the Jack the Ripper DLC is included!!! That DLC alone is $15.

The Pro patch for the game has it looking sharp.
I bought it last night and downloaded all the DLC. Looking forward to playing it on my lowly standard PS4.
My copy of The Show 17 downloaded last night too. Can't wait for Tuesday.

Post detailed impressions of the Show, I need to know if I should pick it up in July for $20.
Add PES 2017 to list of games I've moved to digital with. Couldn't pass up PES 2017 for $20 digitally during the current sale.
No FIFI for you?
Already switched from FIFA 17 disc to FIFA 17 digital a few months ago.

I've long thought CoD should be this way, as well as sports. Those numbers are hard to ignore.
CoD and sports games get people to buy the latest version every year for $70+, plus the DLC, VC and other bullshit, so I don't think they'd do that until year-to-year sales start really dropping. I'm sure plenty of people would pay $40 for a Madden roster and game updates every year, but EA has no incentive to do that since everyone apparently has no problem paying $70+ every year for a "brand new" game.
As for me, I like seeing publishers provide on-going support and adding new content to existing games. I recently picked up Ghost Recon Wildlands, while it was on sale for $20, knowing that Ubisoft is still supporting the game.
I've also become a big fan of digital purchases. I was against them during the Xbox 360 and early PS4 years, but I'm all in now. Of the 70 games installed on my PS4, only 4 are disc-based (GTA V, NASCAR Heat 2, Tekken 7 and PES 2018) and they'll be replaced once the digital versions go on sale. I like the convenience, instant purchase and not having to worry about late/damaged orders.
Updated my post because I just counted all the games on my PS4 and I have 70!!! I was correct that only 4 are disc-based.
