Title: Rise of the Tomb Raider
Post by: Jason on September 05, 2015 @ 08:01 PM
I didn't realize Rise of the Tomb Raider was coming out on the XB360 but the images below comparing the XBox One (Top) and XB360 (bottom) versions has me interested:

Looks like it's coming out earlier than expected for PS4. The rumored release date is October 11th. I was expecting it closer to Christmas.

Currently halfway through the game and loving it. More crafting and more tombs. Only complaint is like the reboot you have to do a ton of backtracking if you are a collector because certain areas are inaccessible the first time through due to not having certain skills yet.

How would you say it compares to Uncharted 4 in regards to graphics and gameplay?

They have both copied each other the past few games. Less story heavy with Tomb Raider and not as engrossing. On the flip side there is a ton more to do in Tomb Raider and all that traversing leads to finding items that actually matter and little stories about the treasures you uncover. Uncharted 4 the treasures are just there. Tomb Raider is way more open for exploration, though it is still constrained by by small sections of the map as you progress. You have more tombs to explore. Both have plenty of scripted QTE events, so nothing new. Tomb Raider has scavenging for materials, parts and numerous other items to craft.  Combat they are pretty similar but Tomb Raider still has the best cover system as it automatically throws you in cover mode when danger is present. Graphics, both look amazing but as a guy who loves snow in games, gotta give it to Tomb Raider. UC4 is probably the better looking but this is personal preference.

Uncharted 4 is an amazing story with moments that most games can't touch. The down side is there were so many sections that felt like a traversing simulator.  Tomb Raider is a semi-open world game where the traversing means something more than reaching the next checkpoint.  I loved Uncharted 4 but I love Tomb Raider more due to all the things to do.

It'll be interesting to see what the price of the game is when it's finally released for the PS4. I'm really looking forward to it but won't spend more than $40 on it. If it's released at full price, I'll wait until it goes on sale and I think a lot of other gamers feel the same way.

Whole lot of details on the PS4 versions (it's all good), except for the price: http://gearnuke.com/rise-of-the-tomb-raider-details-released-will-include-vr-support/ (http://gearnuke.com/rise-of-the-tomb-raider-details-released-will-include-vr-support/)

I'm thinking it's going to be full price based on the article.

Well it has all the old DLC, new DLC and VR support for one of the new modes.  I think $59.99 is a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Really considering the Xbox 360 version for $15 from Amazon since the PS4 version is going to be $60 when it's released.

I went with the Xbox 360 version. I'll buy the PS4 version during a flash sale to get all the DLC.
