Just noticed this at Gamestop.  Did not recall hearing about it but they have a listing.

Now the pricing makes sense.

THQ is trying something a little different with the next MX game. Instead of being sent to store shelves with a 60 dollar price tag, it'll only cost 40. That gets you the base game and features like single-player challenges, online competition and support for local two player action. Like in free-to-play titles, the idea is to make the game more attractive to a wider range of customers with a lower price point, then continue to release downloadable content for a price. As THQ says, it's letting the consumer choose how much of the game they want to buy, and if they wind up not loving it, well at least they didn't pay 60 dollars.

I can't really complain about that, as long as there is plenty of content there for the $39.99.

Freestyle trick events and Supercross are also absent.

Q: What is the deal with Supercross? When will we have the SX mode?

A: MX vs ATV Alive's Supercross mode will be released post-launch via DLC marketplace. The Stewart Compound is your first glimpse at how authentic Supercross mode will be. Make sure you pre-order Alive and download James' Compound at launch to start practicing.

Think I am going to wait until it drops in price and becomes a downloadable game.  Not because of the review, the games is just not really doing much for me and I wanted a demo to try it out. Supercross is what I enjoy most and it is a shame that they handled it this way. I was expecting all modes in the game and a bunch of DLC tracks to follow suit.  Bad move.
