Does that really surprise you? All these teaser trailers are a waste of time.
http://www.pastapadre.com/2011/04/10/senior-members-of-the-madden-nfl-development-team-departing-tiburon (http://www.pastapadre.com/2011/04/10/senior-members-of-the-madden-nfl-development-team-departing-tiburon)
Multiple sources have informed me there are some major changes taking place at EA Tiburon specifically relating to the Madden NFL franchise. Several high level members of the development team are apparently on their way out and may be joining a new studio that is being founded by a former Tiburon executive. When made public some of the names exiting the studio will be immediately recognizable to those who closely follow the series.
On Friday The Orlando Business Journal (http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/print-edition/2011/04/08/former-ea-tiburon-execs-new-firm.html) reported on the new social gaming studio, to be known as Row Sham Bow, that is creating 60 “high wage†jobs in the Orlando area (also home to Tiburon). Job postings for the company began going up earlier this month.
It is unknown at this time what if any impact would be had on the development of Madden NFL 12 or even if those individuals would be leaving immediately. As of publish time request for comment from EA Sports had not been returned.

Please be Ian Cummings, that jackoff took away my dynamic shadows. promised to put em back and never did. ;D

Well I gave it two days out of courtesy, but now I'll state that Ian Cummings is the biggest name leaving Tiburon/Madden.

EA Sports has announced that Madden NFL 12 will release on Tuesday August 30th. That represents a sharp move away from the anticipated second Tuesday in August that has become tradition for the franchise.
They twittered an in game screenshot. At least the kicking meter is new, I hated last years.

Small little rant here but whoever at OS decided that all the links created by Mods/Admins should be red should be flogged. That is just an eyesore.

Speaking at the press event being held by the company, Tiburon football GM Cam Weber touched on the vision going forward for the Madden NFL franchise. Of note is that there is a new “three year plan†underway with features already mapped out through Madden 14. The size of the development team is expected to be doubled as well. That news might be an attempt at reassuring consumers that the company is invested in advancing the franchise despite the turmoil and uncertainty now being experienced due to big changes within the current development team.
------------------------
Oh you have to love those THREE YEAR PLANS. Where in the world in Ben Brinkman these days, he had one of those nifty three year plans with the MLB 2K series.
Year one plan complete.

Cheerleaders and of course a new kick meter. ;) Definitely giving Game-planning a run for it's money.

Hillis vs Vick in the finals. Everyone get out there and vote for the guy who did not kill a bunch of dogs.
I have two points to make:
- I agree with Brent...don't vote for the asshole that killed a bunch of dogs.
- Why do people give a shit about who is on the cover of Madden?
Because Madden is one of the big Franchises in the gaming market and it is usually the first bit of info we get on a new Madden? I really can't tell you but those people are nowhere as bad as the ones that make custom covers because the player is not on their team/they do not like the player.
Weakest game trailer followed up by two more waste of time trailers. Wow, the Bills are going back the white helmets from the OJ days.

I think this may be the year when Madden finally gets some serious playtime. We might have to consider both a NCAA Online Dynasty and something with Madden this year.
I must be a sucker for their marketing ploys because I'm suddenly excited for this game. I keep thinking it's a ways off, but May will be here next week and before you know it, NCAA Football 12. I'm most anxious to see how the new blocking/tackling system works.
For me the best thing is there seems to be a lot of synergy between the two football games, with both getting similar enhancements. I just hope they decide to get together and have the same play calling screens, audibles, hot routes, etc.
I also like the dedicated "tackle" button on defense. I've used "dive" to tackle on defense since the Genesis days (it's burned into my brain) and now it'll actually be the correct thing to do.

I'm pretty excited about NCAA and Madden. I think it's funny how most forum posters and journalist talk about all the things improved in the new version only to complain that it's the same game once it's released. I liked Madden 11 a lot and think the upgraded presentation and new blocking/tackling system in 12 will add a lot to an already good game.
What some people need to understand is that this is a video GAME. I can understand people wanting EA to make the best game possible, but there's a fine line between realism, fun and frustration. Many people also need to understand that the AI will NEVER play as well as a human, especially on a $200 piece of hardware. Maybe if Big Blue were powering the AI in Madden it would be able to accurately represent human thinking, but until then, be a little more realistic with your expectations. Go back and play a football game on the Genesis and you can see we've come a long way.

On Friday the first two new central features (http://www.pastapadre.com/2011/05/13/madden-12-franchise-mode-details) for Franchise mode in Madden NFL 12 were revealed to be Dynamic Player Performance and Player Roles. Now a whole list of improvements in addition to those have been uncovered.
The Pre-Season will be taking on some importance through roster cuts and player ratings being uncovered, a free agency “bidding†process â€" which looks to be straight out of NFL Head Coach â€" has been added, enhanced scouting is being introduced and more. Continue on to check out the Franchise features and leave any thoughts in the comments!
•Dynamic Player Performance: Player ratings fluctuate based on consistency and confidence.
•Player Roles: More than 20 roles (Playoff Performer, Trench Warrior) affect player and team stats throughout the season.
•Free Agent Bidding Wars: eBay style bidding against other GMs creates intense, rapid-fire free agent period that takes only a few minutes to complete.
•The Pre-Season Matters: Start with 75-player roster and need to make cuts each week. Playing pre-season games reveals player ratings.
•Scouting Reworked: Tiered scouting system reveals ratings tied to different events (college season, combine, pro day, individual workout).
•Draft Class Improvements: Robust set of draftees built for 30 seasons of franchise. Teams draft based on their real tendencies.
•Coaches Matter: Coaches have small positive and negative impact on how players perform on the field based on their style.
•Smarter General Managers: Better re-sign and cut logic. GMs make trades and sign free agents who fit their needs, with player roles factored in.
•Change Teams: In any offseason, change control of which teams you run in Franchise mode.
•Edit Any Player: Alter the ratings of any player â€" rookie, created player, or established veteran.
•Numerous Tweaks: Many other small tuning and additions are coming including retirement logic, a more accurate salary system, fixes to the injured reserve system, better simulation stats, and more.

Madden NFL executive producer Phil Frazier is departing EA Sports. That has been confirmed today by the company which also noted that Roy Harvey will be taking over the position going forward.
Harvey has been the executive producer on the NCAA Football series and joined the company in 2003. That leaves the NCAA head spot left open and likely to be filled in the near future.
