Title: Personal Non-Gaming Thread
Post by: BDSooner72 on February 26, 2021, 09:13:38 PM
Instead of making a thread for things like this I just copied from gaming.

This is another example of why Annika Sorenstam is my GOAT in the sports world.

Fifty years old, plays a tour event for the first time in 12 years. Makes the cut.

I never heard of a stoat but this video should put a smile on your face.

It looks like a a ferret, which my kids have been bothering me to get for years.

They do. I hear ferrets do not play well with other animals. If you have cats they usually do not end up as bosom buddies.

I heard that ferrets and cats get along well. BTW, your video has become very popular in my house.

Glad to hear it. There are some other really good videos on that channel.  People that foster animals are some of the best people out there. Knowing they will have to let it go to another family would tear me up.

I thought you could keep them as pets. I was sad to see them set free at the end (but happy for them). I was getting ready to see where I could buy one.

With MLB coming soon, almost free of charge to my Xbox. A few of my favorite baseball clips.

The stare is good, mom not so bad herself.

Tip of the ball cap.

They took it to her on Sunday but due to Covid and being in assisted living they had to do it outside. It was too bright and she could not see it much of it but she played solitaire for 30 minutes on it and she had fun. By brother in law took it back home to mess with some settings and things for accessibility. She is supposed to have it back today.

She finally got it back today. Took a while because they limit people who visit indoors. Jenna, my sister, showed her how everything worked and Mom played an hour of bowling, some dominoes and by the time my Sister left a couple hours of solitaire. Jenna said she did pretty good playing the game but she is not used to the controls and will take some time to get the games she wants to play and with new games how to play them. Mom called afterward but I was asleep. She seemed happy to have something to do outside of watching TV.

Glad to hear. She's going to have the most popular room there. Everyone's going to be fighting to get playing time on her Switch. Make sure she keeps the vultures at bay.

New Era made some local based baseball caps and a day later they are removed from the website.

Lol. I was just reading about this story in my news feed. They are pretty bad looking although the Yankee hats did have both of my old area codes (212 and 718).

Got my second Modena monday. Got halfway through work on Tuesday before getting hammered by side effects and had to quit.  Was ok this morning though, but felt pretty shitty for those 16 hours.

I've read that the Moderna vaccine has a higher rate of side effects. Luckily no one in my family had any side effects, although I do know some people who've had the Pfizer vaccine and had side effects too.

We're having our first BBQ in almost two years this weekend. It's only going to be with my brother's family, wo have all been vaccinated too.

I am just holding off due to having the staff infection and other medical issues. Would love to have the injections but fortunately I am in a small town, rarely leave the house and when I do it is with a mask.

BBQ in NY/NJ?  I need some images to see if what you are truly having is BBQ.  Especially after this article ran years ago. As a Texan I am a certified BBQ inspector by birth.

You'd be very disappointed in my BBQ...only hot dogs, burgers and chicken. I'd love to have some Texas slow-cooked ribs.

Had my first Moderna a couple of weeks ago and all I felt was an ache in my upper arm for a couple of days - nothing debilitating, and only if I bent the arm into certain positions did it feel a bit like I'd just finished lifting some weights. They only rolled Moderna out here in April and everyone else I know has been given either Pfizer or Astra Zeneca - what have I got to look forward to when I get the second dose?

I'm not getting that second dose until August. Thank goodness there's not an imported Covid variant about to run rampant because our government were too busy chasing a trade deal with India to close our borders properly. That'd be dreadful. You what, sorry? Oh...

Why the big gap between shots? They automatically schedule your second shot 3 to 4 weeks after your first shot over here.

Got my second shot at 2pm on Monday.  About 10 am on Tuesday I notice I feel like I do when I start to feel a head cold coming on in the front of my sinus.  Then over the next 4 hours that became a steady decline into fatigue and lethargy with a very slight headache.  By 2 pm I knew something was definitely up had muscle fatigue like I would have at the end of  hard weight lifting sessions.  By 4 pm I had a fever and headache was ramping up.  By 6 pm I was on the couch with a fever, and felt like I had heat radiating off the entire length of my spine from tailbone to base of skull.  Like radiating outward from the spine, which was a first for me as I've never had fever that felt isolated like that.  Simultaneously I had chills going across my back and shoulders and down the length of my arms so if I were to spread my arms out full span it would look like a cross with a fever vertically and icy chills horizontally.  The headache continued to get worse.  It felt like I had a belt around my head and all the pressure was being applied to the sides and across the forehead.  I had no appetite, thankfully.  At 7pm I called it a night and took a dose of nyquil.  Was out by 8 and slept through until 6 am.  I felt well enough to work the next day, not great, but I couldn't tell if that was nyquil hangover fog or side effects.  I felt a bit of fatigue the rest of the week, but nothing I couldn't work through.

Post shot I have a swollen lymph node above my right hip.  Not sure if that's related to the shot, but it wasn't there before.  It's still swollen and if it isn't gone by 2 weeks (Monday) I'll go to the doctor to make sure it's not something more serious.

There were studies done over here which showed potential increases in immune response, particularly in the elderly, if the second dose was taken 12 weeks after the first. You might very well ask why the US studies done at the same time showed something different. I might very well tell you I've got no idea.

I certainly - and this is vitally important - wouldn't suggest that the UK is governed by a self-obsessed charlatan concerned solely with what's best for Alexander Boris De Pfeffel Johnson rather than the nation at large. Nor would I suggest that concentrating on getting as many first doses done as possible would allow him and his awful, disingenuous wet flannel of a health secretary to claim that their vaccine programme was an enormous, wide-reaching success irrespective of whether it was achieving the key aim. No, not me.

I just canceled my vacation to Florida, which was planned for August. I don't need to take chances with the Delta variant, especially with my unvaccinated 10 year old son. Seems like most of the people in Florida are proud that they're now the new COVID hotspot.

I agree. I wore a mask in Costco last week because it was crowded and I always wear a mask whenever my son needs to. The vaccine for younger kids has been pushed back from September to "possibly by December". The school year is going to a shit show if schools don't start mandating masks again.

I bought my younger son a Chromebook for school last week and ended up buying myself one a few days later. They've really come a long way from when they were first released. They now come with much more powerful Intel processors and can run native Linux apps. The big selling point for me was being able to install my remote access software, so now I can bring the Chromebook on vacation rather than my old, show and out-dated laptop. I can also install almost any app from the Google Play Store. The best part is the price. I never thought I'd be able to function without a Windows laptop, but I'm glad I decided to give a Chromebook a shot.

I'm starting to again. It's something I've wanted to start doing again for a long time and seeing how good a guitar player my son has become over the years has really inspired me. I've convinced my wife to let me keep it in the living room so I can just pick it up and play (not plugged into an amp) whenever I'm just sitting on the coach instead of staring at my phone.
